Pin Cushion and Giveaway

Shop hop is over, and I got the final piece I needed (and a few surprises) for the Pinchusion swap. Here is a photo of part of it, but I can't reveal the entire pincusion just yet!!!

I hope my swap pattern loves this!! It has been so much fun.

Well, I know that I am pretty new to the blogging world but I have decided to do a giveaway. There is a catch of course, I have a counter at the bottom of my blog and I am hoping to get it up to 500 people that have visited my blog. Once I reach 500 I will post a giveaway - with a quilting theme - and of course you know what comes following that... LOTS OF FUN IN THE MAILBOX!

Here is my favorite quilt from Shop Hop. It was at Piper's Quilt and Comforts. This is completely hand appliqued. WOW! This store offers lots in quilting (especially applique - MY FAVORITE) and knitting. The owner is even doing videos for Expert Village in order to assist beginners in making quilts. What a way to reach out to the quilting world! I know that I have learned a ton from Jeanette.

Well - Summer is officially started, I know it sounds kind of late, but Andy is finally out of elementary school. He will be attending Junior High in the fall. I can't believe that I have a teenager. He is getting ready for Scout camp in a week. Matthew is now 4, and giving his parents a run for their money. His favorite thing lately is to sneak out the front door, or the back gate and try and find Andy at this friends houses. He eventually makes it home, or we find him walking around the block. Miles has made it one month without an ear infection YIPPEE!! Hopefully this is the end of them. Maybe his head has finally grown enough for all the fluid. Coby is trying to get on with Avis - hopefully he finds a better job SOON!

It's Finished

It's finished!

I finished the charity quilt in the nick of time. My son's 6th grade class lost a student to an aut0 - bike accident about 4 weeks ago. The class and the school decided to do a fundraiser for the local children's hospital - Primary Children's. The class drew on the fabric with markers and crayons and I put the quilt together. I finished it up this morning so my son could take it to the class to show them before the counselor took in the donations to the hospital today.

Tomorrow it is off to Shop Hop! Yippee!!! I need to get the final items for my pin cushion for the swap. I'm so excited to get this in the mail! I hope my swap partner loves it, I'll post pictures once I know she has received it. It's a secret that's for sure.

Last night I finished my school for this semester. Now I have a little break until the fall semester starts. I can see the end is coming. So close but so far. At least now I will have some much needed time to spend with my family (and the sewing machine!)

Do U Quilt?

I'm sure that those that are checking my blog are wondering if I really quilt. Well in reality I do - just not as much as I used to because of the full schedule I am currently doing. School goes till 11pm twice a week, this doesn't include the needed study time, soccer is 2 nights a week - and I usually am dragging along the 2 little ones which doesn't allow for the needed study time - and I work full time for the FamilySearch department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. AND don't forget that I'm a mom and wife - I guess that is enough to keep one woman busy!!

So I quilt to keep some sort of sanity! I am involved the the Pincusion Swap that is posted on All Stitched Up. I am so excited to be involved in this exchange. I love to interact with individuals around the world. I have finally decided what pattern I am going to use for my pincushion - but IT'S A SECRET SHHSHHSHH!

So here are some pictures of a block of the month that I am in. These colors are not colors I would have chosen on my own, so it is really a step out of the box for me. I have 2 little girls that live near me that will love these when they are completed though. Here they are...

So far the May block has been my favorite. It is definintely a block I would use again and again in quilts in various sizes.

See I really do quilt. I also have one quilt back from the quilter, but I haven't bound it yet so no picture. One quilt at the quilter for charity. My quilt guild - Southridge Quilters - is doing a prize at the end of the year for those that complete at least 5 projects this year. So far I have 2 done and several more almost ready.

One day I will have more time to quilt. It is a valium for me now!!

Guess I better get back to International Economics (I'm posting while I'm in class, have to squeeze it in sometime!)

Great Quilt Giveaway, and more to come...

I was blog surfing this morning. It is becoming a habit when I have nothing to do. And I came across this wonderful giveaway. All quilters need to check out this giveaway. I found it through All Stitched Up. Jackie is a professional long arm quilter. I am thinking I may even join the mystery quilt at the store she mentioned.

Now the MORE TO COME portion. I have a ton of pictures that I need to post about some quilts I have been working on. What happened - batteries died in the camera. I will be putting in more batteries once I get back and then provide a very lengthy post. Probably post while I am in school.

Soccer Soccer & MORE Soccer (And some other stuff)

We are currently on a little family vacation to Cedar City. The Utah Summer Games are happening and Andy's team is playing. We have now played 3 games and won each of them - GREAT JOB TEAM!!! We only have one more game to play before the GOLD medal round. The first game was against the second team from the USA club. This is tough because we all know and love these kids. They have played with our team and it is never a good win over these kids. We won 4-0. The second game was against a team from Roy. We won 1-0 in a tightly matched game. Our kids seemed extremely sluggish the first two games. Maybe it was the long drive - or the excitement, whatever it was they needed to step things up. The third game we also won 3-1, but it was a VERY physical game. We have one player that ended up in the emergency room. We aren't sure if his leg is broken. He collided with the goalie and was kicked above the shin guard. OUCH!! He couldn't even walk on it and was carried into the ER. Our goalie got a bloody nose that wouldn't stop bleeding, and another player has a pulled or bruised hamstring. UGH! These are great kids and Andy loves playing with them. GO PATRIOTS!

And of course who forgets the camera for the summer games - that right ME!

Other than the above our life has been absolutely crazy! We have 2 broken cars, I'm finishing up my summer semester and Miles hasn't been feeling the best. We are also realizing that the downturn of the economy is impacting Coby's job - actually it is the fuel costs! When you drive over 100 miles a day for your job, it can really kill the pocket book. But we are hopeful that a new job will soon be present. He is currently interviewing with Avis rental car. He would be an owner of an operations site. It seems good - but who knows. Right now I just keep praying that something will happen.

The Weekend

The weekend is fast approaching and I am so glad - I think!! I will be able to get a little sewing in but for the most part I will be studying like crazy for a Finance test on Monday.

Next week it is vacation time. We are headed to the Utah Summer Games for Andy to play soccer. His team has won the Gold Medal the last 3 years.

On Friday June 13th, Matthew will be turning 4. He is sooooo excited. Last night he asked if he could buy some fish. He told his dad "We have to have a fish in a tank, can we go get one?" Dad of course broke down and off we went to by a 50 cent fish. He was sooo cute with those fish. He held them very still so that the bumps wouldn't kill them on the way home.


Miles is just loving life. He had to go to a babysitter yesterday without his brothers. He just cried. His brothers where at school so this was very difficult for him! He always has his brothers. What a cutie though!

Undecided?!?!?!

So I can't decide if I want to create a second blog just for quilting. Quilting and my family are my life, so it is easier to just update one blog, however, my quilting lately is on hold due to the amount of school that I am doing. I think this blog would be over taken by just family things. I'm open to suggestions on this one!!

School is going along well. My first 2 tests are complete and everything looks on track to keep those A's and B's that Andy has threatened me with.

Andy has had some tragedy in his life. One of his good friends was recently killed in a bike - car accident. He cried and cried. It hurt so much as his mother to watch him go through this life challenge. His teacher and I are working on putting together a quilt where the students in his class will draw on muslim and we will put the quilt together. The class will donate it to Primary Children's Hospital.

On a good note - ANDY TURNED 12. I can't believe that my little 4 pound baby, that was 9 weeks early has made it to 12. We where told that he would have severe difficulties through his life, but he hasn't. He is an amazing son, brother, kid, etc. I am so proud of him!
