Busy Lives

Summer is supposed to be coming to an end, but our lives just keep on keeping on. Andy will start school in 3 weeks, and soccer is now 3 nights a week with games just around the corner. We are trying to take out some time for fun. We served hot dogs at RC Willey on July 24th to raise funds for soccer. Here are some pics from all the events on the 24th of July...

Giveaway Winner annouced tonight...

I will be announcing the giveaway winners this evening. I was having way too much fun this weekend with my cute boys and their dad to even think about blogging....thus I had to postpone the drawing of the names.

I did find a great giveaway posted on JoAnne's blog. Go check it out, this would be great to decorate a room, or add some additional fat quarters to. I can't wait to see if I won!!!

I'll update some more later, lots of things are happening in the Bergie world - Trying to keep my chin up after we found out the car is dead, yep that is right the deal said it needs a new engine - UGH!!! We are getting a second opinion just to make sure.

Surprises - Finishes - Hair Dye - Car Troubles... blah... blah...blah

Ok - First is first, I have a couple of quilting projects that are finally done! Yipee - I am not be part of the Finish 5 by July, but I am slowly getting things finished. My mom is even finishing her projects thanks to a little nudge from Dad. Here are the pics...

This is a minkee receiving blanket with some burp cloths for my sister-in-law that is expecting a girl.

(Girls are hard to come by in my family - so far the score on my side is 5 boys 3 girls, on my husbands side it is 8 boys 1 girl.)

Thus we must spoil the girls!!!

This quilt is for the Quilts 4 Cancer project that the Utah Quilt Guild is involved with.

It even has the label on and is ready to hand in. I will hand it in at the next guild meeting. YIPPEE!

Now I also received my pincushion from the Pincushion Swap that was done by Linda at All Stitched Up. She did a wonderful job of setting this up. I have had so much fun with the Pincushion swap that I decided to do the bag swap Linda has also put together.

I was so excited to get this package my husband told me it must be Christmas. Here are the wonderful pics...

She even remembered my boys - chocolate and carmel - I'm not sure if they will acutally

eat these as chocolate and carmel are one of my absolute favorite combinations!!

HAIR DYE...

Andy decided that he wanted brown hair. I'm not sure why but he thought that it would look good. Now he is normally a very light blonde so this was sure to be interesting. But I remember some great advice - Pick your battles! At least it wasn't flaming red, or fuschia, or purple. He just wanted it brown. So here goes...

The final picture isn't available yet as he wouldn't let me take one this morning. I will get him tonight and add to this post. I think it looks good - but he isn't too sure about it.

Now MORE car troubles. Today Coby's car started acting up and he took it back to the shop. We only purchased this car about 3 months ago and I think it has been in the shop more than it has been out of the shop. The mechanic thinks that it is either the oil pump, or he blew the engine. We are really hoping it is just the oil pump as there is a recall notice on it and it would cost us very little to have that fixed. If it is the engine it would be significantly different. Hopefully it is just the pump.

A Day late & A dollar short... GIVEAWAY!

Sometimes I always feel "a day late & a dollar short"... well that can explain my week. First the car blew up, now I was supposed to post my giveaway yesterday and missed it. Life catches up I guess.



I finally got my camera and a few other goodies in the mail. The first goodie was a win from Kim on her Shop Hop giveaway. THANKS! It is a wonderful pattern.


The next fun thing I got in the mail was a Candle Breeze. Ladies if you don't know what this is you better check it out!!! Rather than burning candles all the time this decorative fan puts fragrant smells throughout your house. Right now I am smelling Ocean Mist (Cucumber Melon). This smell is much better than the smell of 3 growing boys. :)

I also got a new nephew! He is soooo cute. Mom and baby are doing fine. I can't wait to see him at the end of August.

FRUSTRATION - and other things

So I feel like ranting for a while. Sometimes you feel like you are going to make it and then one thing will happen and it bursts that bubble that has begun to form. Well this weekend was that way. I know that everyone is struggling - but sometimes I feel like I can't get ahead! We where driving home from my brother's house on Sunday evening and my car died. That's right - DEAD! Everything would turn on, but no gas was getting anywhere. Now you are probably thinking - duh fill the gas tank once in a while...... well I had just put gas in it, so I know that wasn't the problem. So Coby and I pushed this rather large vehicle (GMC Yukon) and Andy (my 12 year old) steered while we pushed it to the side of the road. This morning the tow truck operator came and hauled it away.... too bad he doesn't haul away the debt that comes with owning that thing! I shouldn't complain as we really haven't had much trouble with that vehicle. But I never feel like I am getting ahead! Something always seems to happen when I am just getting ready to pay something off - get my debt under better control, etc. Now this. Does it ever stop??? I guess I need some rich friends!

We did spend some time at Grandma's and here are some cute pics to go with it. Now you are wondering how I got these pics as I am still cameraless - well, my brother took them and saved them on my thumb drive for me.

Andy decided he was going to impress all of us with his new talent - he has taught himself to do a backflip - without a spotter. This is my very athletic child!

Filthy House - YUCK!

I always complain that my house is a mess. Now I know that is NOT true. My house is immaculate compared to this one! I think we can even eat off the floors - we did mop last night. This is just scarry. I can't imagine how someone gets to this point in their lives. I would hope that this couple gets counseling as well as a clean house in order to deal with whatever is causing them to hoard.

I promised a giveaway when I reached my 500th visitor. Yippee that was reached, and actually by a friend that I haven't seen in a couple of years. It was wonderful to hear from her, and she said she has a cute baby blanket pattern for me to see. I can't wait!

Pincushion Finished!

I finished my pin cushion for the Pin Cushion Swap that All Stitched Up is doing. It is on its way to a place far from home. I hope my partner just loves this little pumpkin!! I guess we will see as I will be watching their blog to see what they say!! Here are some pics. His name is "Happy Jack" and he sits on an old bed spring. I was attempting to use the candle stick but it just didn't look right - so I opted for this old bed spring, and I actually think it looks better!

Another Fun Giveaway & A Correction

I found a fun giveaway - whether a quilter or not - it is at Polka Dot Pineapple. She is giving away a cute Christmas stocking. She also has a really neat pinchusion tutorial. I am going to make some of these pincushions. I acutally bought a couple of them that where felted during Shop Hop because they where soooo cute.

Now the CORRECTION... I stated before that I will be doing a giveaway once I reach 500 hits - I am almost there, look at the counter at the bottom. I did mention that this would be a quilting giveaway - however I was quickly reminded by my cute sister in law that there are non quilters that look at my blog. So to make it good for the non quilters, I will be posting the giveaway so that all can join. Maybe a gift certificate or something like that for the non quilters. Anyone can join when it is time....
